Our project recently won an AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) RAC Research “Sweet Sixteen” Award.  Earlier in July 2018 was the award ceremony at NDOT, including pictures with the Governor (below). This research project was a result of 2+ decades of our team presenting the many uses for NEXRAD Gage Adjusted Radar Rainfall (GARR) data synthesis combined with advanced hydrologic methods to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) at FEMA, USACE, FHWA, DoD and NAS to get technical endorsements, as well as, other funding sources and great projects for continued R&D to build a better mousetrap. An excerpt from NDOT’s Public Meeting Agenda about the award is provided below:
